Shashank Jadon, a murder accused, was permitted to take the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) for admission to the National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi) by a Delhi court. Vacation judge Chandra Shekhar at Rouse Avenue court held that the right to education is a fundamental right given under the constitution of India, and it would be in the interest of justice if the accused is allowed to appear in the test.

Shashank had applied for the AILET to study law at the NLU Delhi. It was stated that pursuant to his application, an admit card was issued to him to appear for the exam. He then approached the Court seeking permission to appear for the exam. The CBI had accepted notice of Jadon's application but failed to respond. Therefore, the court held that there was reasonable reason in granting CBI any more time to file its response.

The Judge directed the superintendent of Dasana jail to make arrangements and assure his appearance in the exam.
