Case: Vijaykumar Gopichand Ramchandani v Amar Sadhuram Mulchandani

The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the Bombay High Court's direction for 72 hours' notice before arresting an identified offender was unlawful.

According to a bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha, the High Court order that states the respondent should have 72 hours' notice if the State intends to arrest him based on a First Information Report (FIR) establishing a cognizable offense was invalidated.

As a result, this direction has been vacated. Nonetheless, the court clarified that the respondent was entitled to pursue remedies if he was harmed by the action.
