CASE: Subramanian and the NGO he supports, Indian Awake for Transparency, were involved in a court battle with Premji over the alleged illegal transfer of assets from three companies to a private trust and a newly established company.

Advocate R Subramaniam, who began a web of 'frivolous litigations' against Azim Premji through several corporations, today, offered an unconditional public apology for the 'harassment' he caused the former Wipro Chairman and dismissed all criminal charges against him.

The move comes over a month after the Supreme Court, on March 10, dismissed all pending criminal proceedings brought by India Awake for Transparency, a Chennai-based NGO, against Azim Premji and his wife Yasmeen Premji.

Subramaniam said in his apology, ''I categorically admit that all proceedings/ complaints/ representations and the allegations contained therein, were founded on an incorrect understanding of facts and legal provisions and the same should never have been initiated or made at all.''

He further stated that he has given the Supreme Court an undertaking that he will unconditionally withdraw all legal proceedings/complaints.

The trial of the suits had begun in a Bangalore court, and Premji and a few other Wipro executives had been summoned.

Subramanian provided an unconditional apology and Premji decided to let bygones be bygones.
