IPC Section 114 - Abettor Present When Offence Is Committed
Whenever any person who if absent would be liable to be punished as an abettor, is present when the act or offence for which he would be punishable in consequence of the abetment is committed, he shall be deemed to have committed such act or offence.
IPC Section 114 - Explained In Simple Terms
IPC Section 114 states that if a person is present at the scene of a crime and is an abettor—someone who assists or encourages the crime—they will be treated as if they committed the crime themselves.
In simple terms, being physically present at the crime scene while aiding or encouraging the offence makes the person equally liable as the main offenders. The law discourages passive participation and ensures that those who facilitate a crime by their presence face the same legal consequences as the perpetrators.
