Sharma alleged that Kejriwal, Sisodia, and Yadav made defamatory and derogatory remarks against him which were published in newspapers and this lowered his reputation in society. A Delhi Court acquitted Delhi Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, and former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Yogender Yadav in a 2013 criminal defamation case filed by a lawyer named Surender Kumar Sharma.

 

Vidhi Gupta, the additional chief metropolitan magistrate of Rouse Avenue Court, passed the orders, pointing out that Sharma's cited media articles did not establish a defamation case.

 

Sharma filed the defamation case against the three by claiming that AAP volunteers approached Sharma about contesting the Delhi assembly elections and said the senior leaders agreed to his candidacy. However, his candidature from AAP was canceled in the 2013 assembly elections.
