DELHI COURT LETS OFF FORMER DELHI BAR ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT RAJIV KHOSLA FOR ASSAULTING A LAWYER SUJATA KOHLI IN 1994
A Delhi Court let off former Delhi High Court Bar Association President Rajiv Khosla and directed him to pay a fine of Rs 40,000 for assaulting a lawyer in 1994. Rajiv Khosla was convicted for grabbing Lawyer Sujata Kohli's hair and dragging her, an offense punishable u/s 323 of the IPC, punishable with imprisonment up to two years.
Facts
In 1994, when Khosla was, the secretary of the Delhi Bar Association asked Kohli to join a seminar. Khosla threatened to remove all her facilities in the Association when she refused to attend the meeting. Kohli sought an interim injunction before the civil Court after Khosla removed her facilities. While she was waiting for the civil judge next to her seat for inspection, Khosla, along with 40-50 advocates, pulled her arms, grabbed her hair, and dragged her. On October 29th, Delhi's Tiz Hazari Court convicted Khosla and held that the allegations made by Kolhi were "absolutely truthful and creditworthy."
Order
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Gajender Singh Nagar passed the order having the opinion that the nature of the offense was simply hurt and the convict is an old aged person who never been convicted in any other case.
