DELHI HC TAKES NOTE OF ALARMING SITUATION OF AIR TRAVELERS NOT WEARING MASKS PROPERLY

On Monday, Delhi High Court ordered an alarming situation where people did not wear masks properly while travelling on Air India Flights from Kolkata to Delhi. Justice C Harishankar himself witnessed people not wearing masks and took a suo moto cognisance of this situation and issued guidelines for immediate compliance. The Court stated, "Passengers in a flight are in a closed air-conditioned environment, and, even if one of the passengers suffers from COVID-19, the effect on other passengers could be cataclysmic. It is a matter of common knowledge that being within arm's length distance of a COVID-19 carrier, even if he is asymptomatic and is merely speaking, is more than sufficient to transmit the virus". If a passenger does not follow the guidelines, he or she should be offloaded immediately.

The Hon’ble Court asked DGCA and Air India to submit their report regarding compliance with the guidelines.
