Delhi Judge Rachna Tiwari Lakhanpal Booked Disproportionate Assets Case
A Senior Civil Judge (West), Tis Hazari Courts in New Delhi, judge Rachna Tiwari Lakhanpal, has been booked for amassing disproportionate assets along with her husband, Advocate Alok Lakhanpal. The Central Bureau of Investigation has booked the judge for criminal misconduct by a public servant under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
According to the FIR, Lakhanpal amassed considerable assets in the name of Alok Lakhanpal between July 2006 to September 2016. The Partners gathered disproportionate assets amounting to ₹2.99 crores.
Lakhanpal and her husband had combined movable assets worth ₹1.09 lakh at the beginning of the relevant period. By the end of the check period, it had risen to 3.53 crore.
The FIR further stated that their income during the period was ₹1.05 crore, while their expenditure was ₹51. 73 lakh.
"It is appropriate to mention that Ms. Rachna Lakhanpal has not informed the department about the unaccounted cash of ₹9,40,990, that was recovered from the house search and also concealed the actual value of the New Delhi house amounting to ₹1,60,50,000. Even Alok Lakhanpal was involved in the acquisition of various assets in his name and his relatives. Hence, he is also liable for abetment to the offense." it was stated.
