Family of nine consumed poison and ended their lives - Sangli

Recently, allegedly a family consumed poison and ended their lives in Mhaisal village near Miraj. Nine bodies were recovered from their neighbouring homes, including a veterinarian, his brother, a school teacher, their mother, their spouses, and their children. The motive behind the incident is still unknown.

The deceased have been identified as Akkatai Yelappa Vanmore, her son veterinarian Manik Y Vanmore, his wife, and their daughter. Akkatai's other son Aditya, plus his wife Rekha and their children.

The bodies of the family have been sent for autopsy and other procedures. This is considered the second biggest dreadful incident of its kind in the State after the Kasarvadavli case in Mira Road, Thane, in which an accountant sedated and killed 14 of his family members before killing himself. Sabia Y Bharmal was the only survivor of the domestic carnage of 2016.
