A city civil court on Monday adjourned the hearing of a bail plea filed by Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, Pavithra Gowda, and others in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case.

The case, which has drawn significant public attention, involves the murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy, allegedly orchestrated by Darshan and his associates. Attorney Sunil Kumar, speaking on behalf of Darshan, asked for more time to make his case during the hearing at the 57th Additional City Civil and Sessions Court. He informed the Court that a senior counsel on Darshan's legal team was unavailable for personal reasons and highlighted concerns made by the special public prosecutor. Judge Jaishankar granted the request and rescheduled the hearing for October 4 in response. The other accused's bail requests were likewise postponed by the court to the same day. This comes after Darshan's three associates were freed on bond.

On September 23, the Karnataka High Court granted bail to Keshavamurthy,
one of the defendants, in accordance with a ruling made by Judge Vishwajit
Shetty. A Sessions Court had granted bail to two other suspects in the case, Nikhil Naik and Karthik, on that same day. Due to Darshan's purported participation, the Renukaswamy murder case garnered a lot of media interest. Following a police investigation, Darshan and fifteen other people, including Pavithra Gowda, were charged with planning the murder.

The actor's admirer allegedly texted vulgar texts to Pavithra Gowda, which
infuriated Darshan, and that's how the altercation started. The authorities
claim that Renukaswamy was tricked into going to a farmhouse in order to see the actor. There, he was slain and tortured, with Darshan purportedly having a major involvement in the crime. A thorough 3,991-page charge sheet against Darshan and the other accused was filed earlier this month by the Kamakshipalya police, who are in charge of the investigation.

In detention since June are Darshan, Pavithra, and additional individuals. After serving more than a year in Jail, Darshan's attorneys filed a new bail request with the Court on September 4. However, the case has since been postponed multiple times. In August, the case became even more well-known as Darshan was moved from Ballari Prison to Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara Central Jail. The actor was transferred after a supposedly videotaped incident in which he was seen smoking inside a Jail became popular on social media, sparking questions about his conduct while inside.
