10TH NOVEMBER

The Jammu and Kashmir Bar High Court Association issued three notices seeking clarification on its stand on terming Kashmir a disputed territory. The Association has also forbidden it from holding elections and imposing prohibitory orders in the district court complex premises.

In the notice, the association wanted an explanation pointing out that “it is [the stand] not in consonance with India's Constitution, whereby J&K is an important part of the country and not a dispute”. The Bar has also been asked to submit a certificate issued by a capable authority, its Article of Association, executive body, its registered office, and validity of the registration, among other details.

The notice specified that the district magistrate of the state had also received representation from lawyers of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, wherein serious claims were made and concerns raised regarding the election process and its reason.
