5TH NOVEMBER

With Jharkhand withdrawing the ‘General Consent’ granted to the CBI to investigate the cases in the state, it became the 8th state to do so. The withdrawal of power means CBI can no longer conduct any investigation in the State without prior formal approval from the state officials. The Jharkhand government's move came right after non-NDA Kerala decided to extract the general consent granted to the CBI to investigate cases.

An order by Home, Prison, and Disaster management order says that“In exercise of powers conferred by Section 6 of the Special Police Establishment Act 1946 (25 of 1946), the Government of Jharkhand hereby removes the consent presented to the members of Delhi Special Police Establishment as also by any other instruments issued by the Government of Jharkhand, from time to time, to regulate the powers and jurisdiction under the mentioned Act in the State of Jharkhand,”.
