Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL) students in Patiala are
protesting against the Vice-Chancellor's unannounced visit to the girls' hostel
and his offensive remarks on the attire of the female students. Vice Chancellor Singh paid an unexpected visit to the girls hostel on the premises, according to a video has gone viral on social media.

Singh may be seen in the video going through the female prisoners' room. He is heard telling the female students that a female warden is accompanying him on the inspection, even if the prisoners protest.

Students' concerns are centered on Singh's presence in the dorm, as even
parents are not allowed entry according to university regulations. The
unexpected, non-consensual visit by their VC has been denounced by the
student representation.

They claim that Singh violated the privacy of the female students by visiting
their rooms, and they further assert that males are not permitted to enter the
rooms of female students, even if female staff members or guards are present.

His visit was brought on by some female detainees' complaints regarding the quality of the meal food and other hostel facilities. The warden of the hostel accompanied him on his inspection, he said. Speaking to the student
demonstration late at night, Singh offered an unqualified apologies and that he saw all of the female students as his granddaughters.
