A group of lawyers expressed their concern about the recent Holi Milan celebrations at the Patiala House court complex in New Delhi. The event, organized by the New Delhi Bar Association, included women performing what the lawyers called 'item dance numbers'. They wrote to both the NDBA and the Bar Council of Delhi, stating that such an event was inappropriate and sexist and that it was not fitting for a bar association to host such an event.

The lawyers who wrote to the New Delhi Bar Association and the Bar Council of Delhi expressed shock and disgust that an event of this nature took place on Holi, which happened to coincide with International Women's Day this year, at the Patiala House Courts. The location of the event, less than a kilometer from the Supreme Court of India, made it even more alarming.

It should be noted that the lawyers were not directing their grievance towards the dancers themselves, who were simply doing their job, and the letter did not intend any disrespect towards them.

The letter stated that such actions not only lower the dignity of the courts but also violate various legal principles. In addition, hosting such an event on court premises amounts to non-verbal sexual harassment.

The lawyers made a formal request to the Bar Council of Delhi to conduct an investigation into the matter and take necessary actions against those who were responsible for organizing such performances at the Patiala House Courts.

They also urged the office-bearers of the New Delhi Bar Association to issue a statement apologizing for the "gross and vulgar incident" and pledged not to conduct such events in the future.
