LETTER PETITION FILED AGAINST ALLEGED CORRUPTION & IRREGULARITIES IN MINORITY SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME

A letter petition was filed at Jharkhand High Court regarding the suspected corruption activities in the Minority Scholarship Scheme and requested the court to take up suo moto knowledge of the matter.
The Ministry of Minority Affairs, through the National Scholarship Portal, authorizes the Minority Scholarship scheme. Advocate MD Shadab Ansari moved the letter petition in the high court claiming irregularities and extensive corruption activities. It was claimed that by using Aadhar Card, payments were made to those who were not even registered in the scheme. Also, it was alleged that there is large-scale involvement of school authorities, bank officials, Govt. officials, etc.
The advocate also alleged that the poor and needy are the ones who need the scholarship, but the non-eligible ones are utilizing the scholarship funds. The advocate requested the High Court of Jharkhand to take Suo Moto knowledge and order the DGP of the state to set up a Special Investigation Team of senior officials to investigate the matter and impeach the persons who are involved in siphoning of the scholarship funds.
