LIVE-IN PARTNER DUMPED HIS CHILD IN A DESERTED AREA TO DIE IN PUNE
The Mundhwa police lodged a complaint against one Shubham Bhande and Yogesh Kale for allegedly dumping an infant in a forest near Viman Nagar, leaving the infant to die. The complainant, mother of the child, and also the live-in partner of Shubham stated that Shubham convinced her to keep the child in the orphanage until their families agreed to get them married. In view of the complaint, the police booked both the accused under sections 315 and 34 (common Intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
The Complainant said that in 2017, she met Shubham as they worked in the same company and started their relationship soon. In 2018, Shubham introduced the complainant to his family, and soon after the meeting in 2018, she became pregnant. The Complainant informed that she was not willing to keep the child, but Shubham was insistent. After a few months of pregnancy, the complainant decided to abort the child; the doctor advised it was too late for the abortion and could cause complexities.
She delivered the child on March 14, 2019, and started living in an apartment along with the child. She was insistent that she should inform their parents, but Shubham kept telling her that his family would not accept her, nor the child. Thereafter, he suggested that they should keep the child in an orphanage till their parents accept them.
On March 29, 2019, Shubham, along with his friends, took the child away and told the complainant that their child was in an orphanage. For two years, the complainant has repeatedly been asking Shubham the whereabouts of the child. Fearing the safety of the child, the complainant filed a complaint.
On interrogation by the police, Shubham revealed that they left the infant in a deserted area.
