The Single Judge of Allahabad High Court of Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav observed that Lord Ram, Lord Krishna, Gita and its authors need to be given national honour by bringing a law in the Indian Parliament.

The single bench made these observations while granting bail to Akash Jatav, accused of making comments on Lord Ram and Krishna on Facebook. Justice Yadav said, "Such obscene remarks made against the great men of India is an injury to the faith of the majority of the people and destroys the peace and harmony in the society." If the Court is allowing such people, it will be a morale booster for them to spoil the harmony in the country.

While granting bail, the Court referred to To Court's decision in the Ram Janmabhoomi dispute and said that the decision was in favour of those who believe in Lord Ram. "Ram resides in the heart of every citizen of this country; he is the soul of India, and the culture of this country is, and India is incomplete without Lord Ram."

The Court observed that the Constitution is a liberal document that allows its citizens to believe or not believe in God. However, though an atheist has the freedom to not believe in God, he should not make obscene comments or pictures and circulate them publicly.

Justice Shekhar Yadav further stressed that along with bringing a law to honour Lords, "there is a need to educate children and make it a compulsory subject in schools because through education a person becomes aware of his life values and his culture."

Recently, the same judge denied bail to a person accused of cow slaughter and also said that Cows should be declared as National animals. He also said that the government should bring strict laws to punish those who insult cows and should be within the scope of fundamental rights.
