NALSAR Hyderabad introduced gender-neutral washrooms and rooms, among other ideas being implemented to make the university campus more gender-neutral.

In late 2021, a discussion arose among the students of the NALSAR queer collective and the state bar council on the need for gender-neutral spaces. The policy will be safeguarding the interest of students who do not conform to any set standards of society.

Assistant professor Akanksha Singh said that "the purpose behind gender-neutral rooms is that people come with different baggage, this is just a safe space on the campus where people could freely be who they are. We have started taking the initiative by converting one of the washrooms in the academic block into a gender-neutral washroom. One of the other things we are working on is 'preferred pronouns."

General Secretary of NALSAR student bar council Ankita Gupta said that "the council has created a committee to draft a policy for the LGBTQ+Community including recognition, non-discrimination, and identification. The committee consists of students belonging to LGBTQ+Community."
