filed a case against Mohammed Riyaz Akhtar and Mohammed Gaus. The case was initially registered by the State Police as a First Information Report (FIR) in the Dhanmandi district of Udaipur, Rajasthan. Subsequently, the NIA re-registered a case after the Ministry of Home Affairs directed the agency to take over the investigation.
Provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 and the Indian Penal Code have been invoked again the accused of planning, conspiring, and committing the murder.
The case involves the murder of local tailor Kanhaiya Lal Teli, which occurred on June 28, 2022, by the two accused, who inflicted multiple injuries on the victim with sharp weapons. The accused persons further circulated a video of the act on social media claiming accountability for the murder.
The issue arose on June 10 when a case was filed against Kanhaiya Lal Teli by his neighbour for allegedly propagating offensive remarks against Prophet Muhammad on Facebook. Shortly, Teli filed a complaint on June 15 alleging that five to seven people were waiting outside his shop and that they would attempt to kill him if he opened it.
Teli claimed that they had shared his picture and address in a group saying that if anyone saw him or if he came to his shop, he should be killed. Therefore, he apprehended.
Kanhaiya, while addressing allegations of making remarks against Prophet Muhammad, stated that his son accidentally shared the post on Facebook while playing games on his mobile phone. He further clarified that he was unaware of the post as he was unaware of how to use the phone.
