NO INFORMATION ABOUT AROGYA SETU APP

 29th OCTOBER,2020

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the National Informatics Centre said that they do not have any information about the "creation" of the Aarogya Setu application. This particular app was promoted by the government with an objective to contain the spread of Covid-19. The Central Information Commission, , issued a show-cause notice to the NIC seeking a reply why a penalty under the Right to Information (RTI) Act had been imposed onthem for prima facie obstruction of information and providing an evasive reply with respect to the information sought in the application.

The application has been developed for the identification of those people  who were at risk of the COVID-19 infection. It also provides important information with regard to prevention from covid -19 , and its symptoms.

The app was created after the lockdown, with the ambition for contact tracing of Covid-19 cases. It was made compulsory for railway and air travellers and for other groups as it deem fit.
