NOTICE ISSUED TO STATE AND CENTRAL GOVERNMENT FOR ISSUANCE OF CHALLAN IN PIL FILED BEFORE DELHI HIGH COURT

15TH DECEMBER 2020

The Delhi High Court has directed the Centre and State to consider PIL as a representation seeking directions to use better technologies as the mechanism for Issuing challans.

The petition was filed stating that the speed violation detection technology, the drunken driving breath analyzing technology, and the red-light violation technology are not following the changing times.

The Petitioner further submitted before the Court that the hefty amount of challans are being Issued using the faulty technology. Earlier, around 1.5 Lakh challans were called back for the same reason. Hence, the main contention of the petitioner was to upgrade the technology for the smooth functioning of the mechanism for issuing traffic challan.

The bench further directed the respondents to consider the PIL as a representation and decide by law as early as possible.
