Outrage and Demands for Justice After Alleged Sexual Abuse of Two 3- Year-Olds at Kindergarten School
Akshay Shinde, a 23-year-old male cleaning staff member, has been accused of sexually assaulting two 3-year-old girls at a kindergarten in Badlapur. The claimed incident occurred
when the girls utilized the restroom, which had no female staff monitoring. Shinde, who was hired on a contract basis on August 1, 2024, is accused of abusing the girls at the time.
The attack was discovered after one girl complained of pain and told her parents that Shinde had touched her improperly. Further inquiry by the parents and a local doctor revealed that both girls had been sexually molested, provoking significant anger and calls for justice
The National Human Rights Commission has taken cognizance of the distressing allegations of sexual abuse of two 3-year-old children at a kindergarten school in Badlapur, Maharashtra. The commission has sought a comprehensive report from the state
government, including an explanation for the alleged delay in filing a First Information Report (FIR).
Maharashtra's School Education Minister, Deepak Kesarkar, is scheduled to meet the victims's parents on 21 August (Wednesday) to offer support and assurances of a thorough
investigation. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam and BJP's Chitra Wagh are also expected to visit Badlapur to show solidarity with the affected families and meet with the police.
The human rights panel has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, demanding a detailed report within two weeks. This development comes after widespread protests erupted at Badlapur station, with demonstrators demanding justice and accountability.
In a significant move, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has announced that the case will be fast-tracked, and a special public prosecutor, Ujwal Nikam,
will be appointed to ensure swift justice. To maintain public order, internet services have been temporarily suspended in Badlapur.
