Plea before the Delhi HC demanding vaccines for lumpy skin spreading among cattles
Case: Ajay Gautam v Govt. of NCT of Delhi and Anr
Bench: Division Bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad
On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court was hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) petition demanding the constitution of a team of doctors in the capital to deal with the lumpy skin disease spreading among cattle.
The bench sought responses from the Delhi government and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and listed the matter on October 14.
Social activist Ajay Gautam filed the plea and argued that around 7,000 cows had died, spreading the disease to Delhi. He demanded that the authorities should take immediate steps to arrange vaccines for the conditions and reserve sufficient numbers of ambulances for the increasing number of cases.
In addition, Gautam prayed to provide ample space for cow burials with dignity, so no dead animal was removed.
