On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a roundtable discussion with CEOs of prominent American corporations in New York. This was part of his two-day official visit to the United States. The purpose of the event, which took place at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel, was to strengthen US-Indian collaboration in cutting-edge fields like semiconductors, AI, and quantum computing. Modi is scheduled to address the "Summit of the Future" at the UN General Assembly in New York on his last day.
Among the tech CEOs Modi met during the roundtable were Shantanu Narayen of Adobe and Pichai of Google. Pichai also attended. “Met with tech CEOs in New York for a productive roundtable where we talked about innovation, technology, and other topics. Modi will speak at the UN General Assembly in New York on Monday, the last
day of his formal three-day visit to the US. His speech is titled "Summit of the Future." A Better Tomorrow: Multilateral Solutions is the summit's theme.
Modi will meet one-on-one with a number of the international leaders who are anticipated to attend this conference on the sidelines. The prime minister met in private with the crown prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al-Sabah Al-Sabah, and his Nepali counterpart, K.P. Sharma Oli, on Sunday in New York. The Prime Minister of Nepal told ANI that he had a "Very Good" meeting with Modi. After K.P. Sharma Oli succeeded Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda" as Nepal's PM for the third time in July of this year, this was the first meeting between the two leaders.
At Nassau Coliseum in New York, the Indian diaspora had earlier given Modi a hearty welcome. To welcome the PM, up to 15,000 Indian diaspora residents from 42 different states came together. Speaking to a sizeable gathering of Indian immigrants in New York, he referred to the "American-Indian spirit' as the world's most powerful force today. AI stands for artificial intelligence to the outside world, but it also connotes the American-Indian spirit to me. This is the world's new "AI" power. Here, I honour the Indian diaspora," he declared.
In an effort to strengthen relations between India and the U.S. moving forward, Modi also declared that India would be opening two new consulates in the US, one in Boston and the other in Los Angeles. The United States and India's alliance is becoming more robust. Our collaboration is growing in all areas as we work toward the common good.
We have considered how convenient it is for you. I declared the inauguration of a new Indian consulate in Seattle last year. We asked for your recommendations on two more consulates. At the diaspora gathering, he declared, "India has decided to open two new consulates in Boston and Los Angeles."
Modi also announced the dedication of a USD 7.5 million grant to cancer
testing, screening, and diagnostics in the Indo-Pacific region during the Quad
Leaders' Cancer Moonshot event, a special initiative to prevent, detect, and
treat cancer in the region.
