PRIME MINISTER NATIONAL RELIEF FUNDER NOT UNDER RTI ACT
PRIME MINISTER NATIONAL RELIEF FUNDER NOT UNDER RTI ACT
23RD OCTOBER,2020
The Public Information Officer of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said that the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) is not a 'public authority' within the meaning of Section 2(h) of the Right to Information Act 2005
The applicant applied sought information regarding the bylaws/rules governing the PMNRF, all documents relating to the constitution of PMNRF Trust, and the names of current trustees. The APplicant also requested to know whether any person from the opposition has ever been made a trustee of PMNRF
Although the Public information while disposing of the application held that relevant information in respect of PMNRF may be seen on the official website,
Previously the PMO had also refused to furnish the information about the PM CARES Fund by contending that it is not eligible to qualify as a "public authority" under the RTI Act
