According to the Pune Crime Branch, a person unknown was murdered by an unknown suspect by hitting the victim with a stone in a secluded area within the Chatushringi police station limits at Sus Khind. On a visit to the crime scene, Amol Zende, DCP, Crime, gave orders to bring the crime to light as soon as possible and arrest the suspects. A team of investigators from Crime Branch Unit 4 was formed and dispatched with instructions to identify the victim, identify the accused, and investigate the crime.

Since the deceased was smashed with a stone, his face was unrecognizable; moreover, no document or other concrete information identifying him. The victim's information was obtained by Jaideep Patil and police officer Ajay Gaikwad from Unit 4 during the search for the dead body in the Baner area. On December 28, two people were seen riding a bullet motorcycle carrying Sandeep Shimpi, according to investigators and officers.

Based on this information, two suspects were apprehended in Mhalunge Pune. When interrogated, Satish Rambhau Girhe (from Mahalunge, Pune) and Deepak Vitthal Kolekar (Pancard Club Road, Baner, Pune) confessed to killing Sandeep Shimpi.

According to the accused, Sandeep Shimpi drank alcohol and continuously beat and abused his wife and his brother-in-law, accused Satish Girhe, and his family members while drinking. The accused confessed to smashing his head with a stone after taking him to a remote location. According to the investigation, Deepak Kolkar is the half-brother of Satish Girhe.
