Rain Chaos in Assam: Waterlogging Wreaks Havoc in Guwahati
Guwahati | Guwahati residents have had a tough Monday with the city experiencing heavy rainfall leading to water logging in many parts of the business district. Waterlogging was reported on almost all peripheral roads of Gurgaon and people remained stranded for hours while traffic moved at a snail's pace. Even school students were stranded till late evening due to waterlogged roads; transport commuters and ambulance service had a tough time.
Kamrup Metropolitan administration, under which Guwahati city falls, has ordered that all educational institutions in the district remain closed for Tuesday due to adverse weather conditions.
Some of the worst-hit areas were Zoo Road, RG Baruah Road, GS Road, Nabin Nagar Anil Nagar which reported widespread waterlogging, along with Hatigaon Ganeshguri Hedayetpur, MLA quarters in Dispur, Lachit Nagar Tarun Nagae Jyotikuchi, Ghoramara VIP Road, Rajgarh Road, Jorabat Chatribari and many more locations.
The Met Department has predicted heavy to very heavy showers at one or two places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya, and Nagaland. The weather grew more dismay, there was no cease to the rain Residents in the city were advised to remain inside and exercise caution while stepping outside only if they had urgent work.
The meteorological department predicts a cloudy sky with one or two brief periods of rain. Temperatures will most likely remain stable, with an elevated temperature of 32 degrees Celsius and a low of 26 degrees Celsius.
