RAJASTHAN GOVERNMENT INTRODUCES BILLS TO COUNTER THE IMPACT OF CENTRE’S FARM LAWS
2nd November,2020
The Rajasthan government introduced three bills in the Assembly to counter the impact of the farm laws passed by the Centre recently. This was right after Punjab Assembly accepted the resolution against the farm laws and, without opposition, passed four bills to counter the Centre’s contentious legislation.
The Essential Commodities (Special Provisions and Rajasthan Amendment) Bill 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services (Rajasthan Amendment) Bill 2020 and the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation and Rajasthan Amendment) Bill 2020 was presented by the Rajasthan’s Parliamentary Affair minister.
On the first day of the assembly session, he also presented the Code of Procedure (Rajasthan Amendment) Bill 2020. Apart from these bills, three new sections have been added as special provisions for Rajasthan, providing punishment for harassment of farmers and gives authority to the State government to give directions.
