TANDAV - ALLAHABAD COURT DENIES ANTICIPATORY BAIL APPLICATION OF CONTENT HEAD OF AMAZON INDIA

On Thursday, Allahabad High Court rejected an Anticipatory bail application of Aparna Purohit (Indian content chief of amazon prime ), booked under 10 FIRs across the country related to the web series “TANDAV”.

On behalf of the petitioner, the council stated that the web series was a fictional work and had no intention to hurt the sentiments of the citizens. The caste and crew of the web series have already issued an apology and have also removed offensive scenes from the web series.

The court led by Justice Siddhart stated that the Applicant has not been cooperating with the investigation, and the show has created a gap between the upper caste and scheduled caste. The Court also observed that the web series had hurt the sentiments of the majority community, and hence the court cannot grant anticipatory bail to Aparna Purohit.
