THE STATE GOVERNMENT IS RESPONSIBLE TO THE PEOPLE FOR ITS CARELESSNESS- UTTRAKHAND HC

The Uttarakhand HC came down heavily on the state government for allowing Kumbh Mela during the Covid 19 Pandemic.

The Bench of Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Alok Verma made remarks after they came across videos showing a large number of priests moving around in pilgrimage centres. The Bench said that such videos were causing embarrassment to the state.

The Court asked the state government to visit Chardham to face the reality. Both in Badrinath and in Kedarnath the priests were not maintaining covid 19 Norms. The government is accountable to the people and central government because of its carelessness.

The Chief justice asked, 'First we allow Kumbh Mela, and now Char Dham is done. Why do we repeatedly cause embarrassment to ourselves?
