The Supreme Court granted bail to Mohammed Zubair, AltNews co-founder in the six first information reports (FIRs) registered against him by the Uttar Pradesh Police. Noting that Zubair had already been granted bail by Patiala Court and therefore, the Bench of Justices DY Chandrachud, Surya Kant and AS Bopanna passed the order.

Zubair's continued detention is not justified, especially since the allegations in the UP FIRs are similar to those in the Delhi Police FIR, the Court said.

Further, the Court also clubbed the six FIRs registered by the UP Police and transferred them to Delhi HC.

The bench directed Zubair to produce bail bonds of ₹20,000 which will be presented before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate at Patiala House before being released.

Zubair had moved the Supreme Court to quash the six FIRs registered against him by the UP Police. Zubair is facing six cases in Hathras, Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar, Lakhimpur Kheri, and Sitapur.
