Salve's Olympic Mission: Top Lawyer to Help Vinesh Phogat Clear Her Name

Harish Salve, a prominent Indian lawyer, will defend the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) at
a critical hearing on Friday. The issue included the disqualification of wrestler Vinesh Phogat
from the Paris Olympics. Salve's knowledge will be critical in resolving the legal aspects of
the case.

Salve, a former Solicitor General of India, revealed that the IOA chose him to represent
Phogat in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The hearing has been scheduled for 9:00
a.m. Paris time (12:30 p.m. IST). The CAS has created a special division in Paris to handle
cases during the Olympics.

Despite getting disqualified, Phogat declared her retirement from wrestling on Thursday. In
an impassioned post, she expressed her inability to continue. Sanjay Singh, President of the
The Wrestling Federation of India has encouraged her to reconsider. He believes it is too early
to make such a decision, especially in the heat of the moment.

Singh emphasized Phogat's substantial contributions to wrestling and her excellent success
in the sport. He proposed that when she returned to India, she addressed her retirement with
her family, the Federation, and other sports leaders. Phogat's decision surprised Singh, and
he hoped she would reconsider and continue her wrestling career. The hearing on Friday
