TWO PEOPLE ARRESTED FOR MANUFACTURING AND SELLING FAKE MEDICINE - ONE BASED IN PUNE

Two people have been arrested for manufacturing and selling fake Covid painkillers and antibiotics interstate for the last one and a half years.

The dealership of the fake company was also situated in Pune. The Scam came into the picture after Vivek Khedkar complained to Vishranbaug police station against Sudip Mukherjee, who set up the manufacturing company named Max Life Healthcare in a village in Himachal Pradesh. Mukherjee was arrested by the FDA after two cases of selling and manufacturing Counterfeit drugs were slapped against him. The fake medicines were made and packed in Ghaziabad and sold in 14 States. These medicines were also given to Frontline workers. The FDA revealed that after testing these medicines, zero% content.

FDA also arrested the owner of Umed Pharma Sales in Sadashiv Peth, Prabhakar Namdev Patil, who was given a dealership of the sham company for sale to other medical stores. The police seized medicines worth 15 lakh from his shop.

The FDA said that they got information that someone was running a fake company and giving out fake medicines. Based on the information, they collected medicines from the market and investigated. FDA further said that it's a big racket throughout the country.
