The Uttarakhand High Court dismissed Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the use of a siren on a vehicle of a Member of Legislative Assembly of the State, Kunwar Pranav Singh, including his family members. The HC dismissed the PIL filed by Umesh Kumar on the ground that the PIL was 'highly motivated by political consideration(s)' as it was filed at the start of the election season and the MLA has been using siren since 2017.

The PIL is highly motivated that tantamount to the abuse of the law and the process of the Court. Given the same, the Court dismissed the petition with a direction to deposit ₹50,000 with the Uttarakhand High Court Bar Association Welfare Fund.

A Division Bench of Chief Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Narayan Singh Dhanik further directed the Registrar (Judicial) to inform the District Magistrate whether the said amount has been deposited within two weeks or not.
