On Saturday, Pimpri Chinchwad police rescued a Bhojpuri film actress and a model from a five-star hotel in Wakad, where they were allegedly part of a prostitution racket. The police received information from the Immoral Human Trafficking cell of the crime branch that a flesh trade operation was taking place at the hotel, prompting them to set a trap by posing as customers. The accused instructed the police to book a room, and when the women arrived, they were taken into custody.

Upon interrogation, the women revealed that their agent was also in the vicinity. Using technical analysis, the police arrested the accused, Prabir Prakash Mujumdar (24), and rescued the two women. It was discovered during further investigation that one of the women was a Bhojpuri film actress who had appeared in various films, YouTube videos, and stage shows, while the other was a model. Both women had been lured into prostitution for financial gain.

The accused in the prostitution case used WhatsApp video calls to connect with clients online and sent photos of the women to them on WhatsApp. He then asked them to book a hotel room for further services. The accused, Prabir Prakash Mujumdar, lived near Bharti Vidyapeeth and was apprehended along with two others, Dinesh Yadav and Viraj. A cash amount and a mobile phone with a total value of Rs 29,040 were seized from the accused.

Police inspector Devendra Chavan stated that after receiving a tip-off about the sex racket, the police set up a team posing as clients. The accused instructed the team to book a hotel room, where two women were sent. One of the accused has been arrested, and a case has been filed against the other two under sections 370 (3) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.

The complaint was filed by police havildar Sunil Jagannath Shirsath, and further investigation is ongoing.
