Senior Counsel Mukul Rohtagi declined the Central government's offer to be the Attorney General for India (AG). According to reports, Mukul Rohatgi, if they accepted the offer, would have replaced KK Venugopal, whose tenure is coming to an end this month.

Senior Counsel Mukul Rohtagi declined the Central government's offer to be the Attorney General for India (AG). According to reports, Mukul Rohatgi, if they accepted the offer, would have replaced KK Venugopal, whose tenure is coming to an end this month.
 
AG Venugopal's tenure was till June 202; however, they extended the tenure for three months or "until further orders." 
 
Mukul Rohatgi served as the AG between June 2014 and June 2017. for the NDA government.
