St Xavier's University in Kolkata Asked an Assistant Professor to Resign for Posting Alleged 'Objectionable' Photos on Social Media.
St Xavier's University in Kolkata asked an assistant professor to resign and pay Rs 99 crore after a guardian complained about her alleged 'objectionable' photos on social media.
The former assistant professor is an alumnus of the prestigious institute.
The professor claimed that the university administration summoned her and ordered her to leave after a complaint was filed by the parents of an undergraduate student, who found an Instagram picture of the professor objectionable. The professor further said that at the meeting, the complaint letter was read aloud and she was compelled to resign.
She resigned in the final week of October 2021.
According to a police report filed on October 24, 2021, the professor's private Instagram account was hacked, resulting in the publication and dissemination of her photos. She said that the university's handling of her departure amounted to sexual harassment and character assassination.
