Recently, two school friends died by suicide one after the other in Hadapsar on the same day. At 6.30 pm, the first death was reported, while an hour later, the second occurred.

According to police reports, Sarika Harishchandra Bhagwat, 19, of Crystal Society, Shewalewadi, hanged herself from the ceiling fan. An ambulance was dispatched from Hadapsar police station immediately to remove the body. Bhagwat’s close friend, Akanksha Audumbar Gaekwad, approached the ambulance and insisted on sitting in the vehicle to accompany her friend on her last journey. Following her mother's refusal, she jumped to the ground from the fifth floor. She fell in the ambulance and died on the spot after suffering serious injuries. The reason for both suicides is still unknown.

Bhagwat and Gaekwad’s neighbor said they were inseparable.
