Advocate Shefali Koul was arrested after wrongfully confining and assaulting a domestic worker

A domestic worker was wrongfully confined and assaulted by advocate Shefali Koul on Wednesday, according to the Noida Police.

A few days ago, CCTV footage showed the lawyer dragging the worker, Anita, out of the elevator, prompting the worker's father to file an FIR.

She was arrested and charged with voluntary harm, wrongful confinement, and insulting someone under sections 323 and 344 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Saad Miya Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida), confirmed on Tuesday that an FIR has been registered against Koul and that an investigation is underway.

As an answer to the tweet, a Twitter handle, allegedly Koul's, shared two videos allegedly showing Anita stealing and mixing sleeping pills in her meal, based on CCTV footage and independent witnesses.

In one of them, the woman claims she is not being held captive. On the other, she is seen saying that a relative of hers had misbehaved with Koul pursuant to which she and her family had apologized to Koul at a police station.

According to the complaint, Anita worked at Koul's house on a six-month contract that ended in October. Koul allegedly refused to let Anita leave her house even after the expiration of her contract.

Furthermore, Koul allegedly hurled casteist slurs at Anita and even took away her phone to prevent her from contacting her family.

Another lawyer from NOIDA was arrested this year for abusing security guards at her residential society.
