Recently,  the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Pune, arrested a lieutenant colonel and a sepoy attached to the Southern Command, Army Ordnance Corps. They were remanded for four days’ CBI custody by the CBI Court after being alleged in the 2021 recruitment scam.

 

The accused are Lt Col Vikash Raizada, sepoy Alok Kumar, Priyanka Alok Kumar, and havildar Susanta Nahak are allegedly involved in the army recruitment paper leak case. The CBI filed a case in 2021 for their involvement in the recruitment for civilian group C posts. The army officer and the sepoy were not cooperating despite sending four notices. Hence, the court issued an arrest warrant.

 

It was revealed during the investigation that Lt Raizada was involved in the criminal conspiracy along with Kumar and Nahak for obtaining benefits from candidates appearing for posts such as tradesman, junior office assistant, tailor, and fireman at the Central Ammunition Depot, Pulgaon.

 

During the investigation, it was also found that various transactions were received through UPI from some middlemen. According to the FIR, Lt Raizada sent answer keys to the Nahak's wifes' mobile phone. Nahak forwarded the same to Priyanka. The mobile chats revealed that accused persons were involved in leaking answer keys and obtaining undue advantage out of it. Upon examining the phones, it was revealed that on 8 September 2021, accused Priyanka appeared for a written examination for the position of a tailor. Raizada sent 44 answer keys to the questions through WhatsApp directly to Priyanka and in return received Rs 90,000.
