26 YEAR OLD CONVICTED WITH 10 YEARS OF RI FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING A 9-YEAR OLD

The special session court convicted a 26-year-old Sakesh Kalunkhe u/s 376 (2) (i) (f) under IPC and other relevant sections of the Protection of children from sexual offences Act (POCSO) for sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl. The court convicted the man with 10 years of Rigorous imprisonment.

 

The incident took place in Hadapsar in 2016. The survivor was at her uncle’s house; the accused went inside the house and closed the door. A neighbour knocked on the door. On opening the door, the woman (neighbour) saw the 9-year-old girl with a bloodstain on her legs. The woman immediately informed the father of the victim. The family rushed to the Police station to lodge an FIR.

 

The Court observed that the accused brutally assaulted the survivor and caused serious injuries, requiring maximum punishment. The Court also appreciated the complainant woman for discharging her duty as a good citizen.
