A 14-YEAR-OLD GIRL ALLEGEDLY SEXUALLY HARASSED BY HER BADMINTON COACH

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly sexually harassed by her coach in a prominent badminton academy. The incident took place on 2nd October. The minor has been training in the academy for five years and wants to make a career out of badminton. A 36-year-old former national level player has been coaching in the academy for the last 6 years.

The girl was harassed by the coach earlier as well, but her parents thought the coach might have accidentally touched the girl. Recently, the coach again harassed the girl by asking her to keep the shuttle box in the lockers of the gym. While she was keeping the box, Dalal came from behind and started having conversations. He extended his hands towards her and touched her inappropriately. The minor ran away in fear, and the accused followed her to stop her. The girl narrated the incident to her parents, and her parents approached the police immediately to file a case.

As per the police, Rakesh Dalal, the accused has been arrested under section 355, 354 D of the Indian Penal Code and under POCSO. He was produced before the court and the court-ordered one-day police custody.
