A PIL IN SC SEEKING DIRECTION TO THE CENTRAL AND STATE GOVERNMENT TO CONTROL SUPERSTITION, BLACK MAJIC AND RELIGIOUS CONVERSION
3rd April 2021
A PIL has been filed before the SC by BJP leader and Adv Ashwini Upadhyay, seeking directions to the central and state government to control superstition, black magic and religious conversions through gifts and monetary benefits.
He submitted that as per Article 51A, it is the central and state government's duty to control black magic, superstition, and forceful religious conversation. He further submitted that Religious Conversation by 'CARROT AND STICK or by HOOK OR CROOK' violates article 14, 21 and 25 of the constitution and is against secularism. The PIL has also sought directions to the Law Commission to prepare a report within three months.
The Petition further said that due to deceitful conversion, Hindus had become a minority in a total of nine states and UTs, and it's getting worse day by day. It is a national problem; hence, the centre must enact strong laws on top priority.
