In the case involving BJP Member of Parliament (MP) Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who was accused of sexual harassment by 6 female wrestlers, a Delhi court granted bail to him and co-accused Vinod Tomar. The court emphasized that the law treats all individuals equally, and it should not favor either the victims or the accused.

The court acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations but clarified that while considering bail applications, seriousness alone is not the sole determining factor. The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Harjeet Singh Jaspal explained that there are other relevant considerations as well.

Notably, the Additional Public Prosecutor did not oppose bail for Brij Bhushan, and the investigating agency did not express any concerns about the accused tampering with evidence or abusing their position. Although concerns were raised by the complainants' counsel, the court found no specific instances on record to show that the victims were threatened.

Earlier, there were protests by several wrestlers over the authorities' apparent inaction on the sexual harassment allegations against Singh, which led them to approach the Supreme Court for the registration of an FIR. Eventually, the Delhi Police registered an FIR and filed a chargesheet against Singh for various offenses under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including outraging modesty, sexually colored remarks, stalking, and criminal intimidation.

It's worth noting that one of the complainants later withdrew her complaint, leading the Delhi Police to file a cancellation report in that particular case.
