BAIL GRANTED TO 19-YEAR-OLD, ACCUSED OF DELIVERING COMMUNAL SPEECHES AGAINST MUSLIM COMMUNITY
An Additional District and Sessions Judge of Haryana granted bail to Ram Bhagat Gopal. The 19-year-old was accused of delivering communal speeches against Muslims at a Mahapanchayat in the state.
He was arrested after participating in an event where he used hate speech, such as abducting Muslim community girls and killing people from the community. Gopal was charged under sections 153A and 295A of the Indian Penal Code.
Earlier, a Judicial Magistrate rejected his bail plea based on a video recording that clearly revealed that Gopal Sharma gave hate speeches and used inflammatory language in the name of religion. While denying his bail, the Court said that people who create disharmony by giving communal speeches are more harmful to the country than the Pandemic.
The Court further said that Covid 19 would take life without seeing the caste and religion of the person, but hate speeches followed by communal violence will result in the loss of lives based on religion.
The 19-year-old moved to the sessions judge.
