BOMBAY HC GRANTS RELIEF FOR 4 WEEKS TO JOURNALIST AYYUB IN THE GHAZIABAD ATTACK VIDEO CASE
Recently, Journalist Rana Ayyub was booked by the Uttar Pradesh Police for tweeting the Gaziabad attack video. The Bombay HC granted four-week protection to the Journalist after noting that Journalist Ayyub sought protection from arrest while she approached the concerned court for relief in the case.
After hearing the contentions, Justice Naik said, "The applicant has approached the court seeking temporary protection in order to approach the appropriate court as the probe is being conducted by the police. Therefore the court grants the relief sought; however, there won't be any extension of the relief beyond 4 weeks. Also, the applicant is required to be released on payment on a PR bond of 25000 and with one or more sureties."
Senior Counsel Mihir Desai appearing for the Journalist, said that the video went viral by the time journalist Ayyub twitted the attack video. Also, the applicant deleted the video after learning the veracity of the attack video.
