A businessman faked ignorance when police called and informed him that he ran over a sleeping senior citizen near Salisbury Park around 5 pm on April 20. The businessman, Anup Mehta (38), refused to accept that he was involved in the accident. Mehta was arrested under sections 279 and 304 (a) of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.

The police informed that they caught Mehta with the help of CCTV camera footage and then filed a complaint in this regard.

According to the FIR, a 70-year-old was sleeping, Mehta failed to see him and ran over him. Passers-by called an ambulance and informed the police. The man was taken to the Sassoon hospital, where he died from the injuries soon. The post-mortem report also revealed death was caused due to multiple injuries.

An eyewitness said that the old man was run over by the man while he was sleeping in front of the shop. He narrated the incident to the police, and they verified a CCTV camera.
