COWS ARE A PART OF INDIAN CULTURE AND SHOULD BE DECLARED AS NATIONAL ANIMAL - ALLAHABAD HC
A Single judge Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav of the Allahabad High Court, recently observed, Cow is part of Indian culture and should be declared a national animal. The Court further said that a bill should be introduced in the parliament to give cows fundamental rights and declare them as the country's national animals. There should be strict laws to punish those who harm or talk about harming cows.
"Jab gaaye ka kalyaan hoga, tabhi desh ka kalyaan hoga"
The court observed this while denying bail to a person charged under sections 3, 5, and 8 of the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act in Uttar Pradesh. The Court remarked that
"India is the only country in the world where people of diverse religions live and worship differently, but their thoughts are similar for the country. When everyone takes a step ahead to strengthen India and support its faith, then some people whose faith is not at all in the interest of the country weaken the country. Given the above circumstances, prima facie offence against the applicant,"
This is not the first offence of the accused of cow slaughter, and therefore granting bail might disturb the harmony of the country.
