DELHI COMMISSION FOR WOMEN TOOK SUO MOTU COGNIZANCE OF THE RAPE THREAT TO THE DAUGHTER OF VIRAT KOHLI
The Delhi Commission for Women took suo motu cognizance of the rape threats to the daughter of Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, Vamika. The Cyber Crime Branch of Delhi Police received a letter from the Delhi Commission for Women inquiring about details of cases registered in light of the threats.
Chairperson Swati Maliwal stated, "It has been reported that rape threats are given to a 9-year-old girl child of Indian Cricketer Virat Kohli after the teams' defeat in the India Pakistan cricket match. It has also been learned that Virat Kohli was attacked after he spoke against the trolling of teammate Md. Shami, targeted by online trolls for his religion. This attracts immediate action."
The DCW also sought copies of the FIRs (if any) filed and details of the accused. They further sought the details of the steps taken by the Delhi police and the action taken report by November 8, 2021.
