The Delhi HC dismissed Sushil Kumar's plea seeking permission to be provided with a supplementary diet inside the jail. Earlier, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate passed an order reserving it in view of the submissions made by the counsel appearing on behalf of Sushil Kumar.

Sushil Kumar is currently in Judicial custody in relation to the death/murder of former National Wrestler champion Sagar Dhankhar.

The Counsel for the Applicant submitted that the accused is innocent and is falsely implicated in the present case. The accused wishes to continue his carrier in wrestling and the alleged false implication should not lead to the end of his carrier. It is further contended that the future carrier of the accused in wrestling directly depends on his physical strength, without which he cannot sustain.

The Court observed that in the present case all the basic needs and necessities of the accused are being taken care of as per the provisions of Delhi Prisons Rule, 2018. The desired foods appear to be the wishes of the accused and not any essential need. Accordingly, the present application is hereby dismissed.
